The young human fighter known only as "Red" is the youngest child - and only son - of a farrier's family. He has either five or six older sisters (he never gives an exact count, perhaps to keep Ryl off-guard).
He first encountered Ryl while trying to collect a bounty which had been placed on the elf's head; finding the 'thief' injured, he ingratiated himself by helping nurse him back to health. In the process, however, he also discovered that the Bard was only reclaiming some items the young man's employer had stolen from Ryl's long-time partner before killing him. Red decided to switch sides.
Red's much more of a pretty face than the big brawny types usually have... which meant he had to learn to fight well at a young age. Lucky for him, he's also got very good reflexes. Hits fast, hits hard, and what he knocks down tends to stay down... if it knows what's good for it.
