Anjali hasn't told me much of her story yet; I do know that she's originally from one of the eastern kingdoms, and had been captured by slavers about a year ago. They were taking her to be sold at auction when she was rescued by human warrior Ryosuke.

After their escape, Ryosuke had every intention of returning Anjali to her home, in spite of the fact that he'd become quite attracted to her himself. To show her appreciation, Anji decided to stay with him for as long as he wanted her to (up to and including as long as he lives).

They traveled to Laranica, where a mixed-race couple would be more easily tolerated. Ryosuke has earned a position in the city guard; Anjali's interest in flowers and herbs brought her into contact with Dowager Princess Maren, and she is frequently seen roaming the palace gardens with the older woman.
