Eliyen is a half-blood drow, her conception ordered by the Demon Queen of Spiders, Lolth, in hopes of gaining a weapon to destroy surface elves - starting with the family of her (unwitting) elven father, Galen Alvenon. Born and raised at a highly accelerated rate in the Demonweb, Eliyen received intensive training in the use of weapons and magic, but the lessons about hating her Upperworld kin didn't sink in as well. Rather, the girl learned to distrust most of the drow beliefs, and to despise her mother and the Drow's demoness. When she heard of a surface elf being held prisoner in the Demonweb, she rescued him and grabbed the chance to escape herself.

The prisoner she saved turned out to be a relative - Trevor Reynar, her elven father's cousin. Returning him to the court at Laranica brought Eliyen face to face with her other parent. She offered her sire the opportunity to end her life, as he had no choice over its beginning. He declined and, after some debate, took the girl in instead. She has continued with her magic and fighting lessons under the instruction of Aunt Jendar.
